Reset Your Planner

Reset Your Planner

Making your discbound planner work for you.

One of the things I like most about planning is that the way I use my planner doesn’t have to stay the same.

I’ve recently made a fairly big change in my own life. I’m no longer working full-time, and when I started setting up my planner for October, I realised that some of the layouts I had been using no longer made as much sense for me.

Nothing was wrong with them. My days had simply changed.

Looking at how I was actually using my planner

While I was working, I used a Dashboard weekly layout for work. It was open in front of me throughout the day, so appointments, meetings and anything happening on a particular day were easy to see.

At home, I had been using an Overview layout.

Now that I’m no longer going into work each day, I realised I wanted to use those pages differently.

My Dashboard layout will now be where I record anything happening on a particular day — appointments, business meetings, home commitments and special occasions. It gives me one place to look and see what is happening throughout my week.

For the business, I’m moving to the new Overview layout. The different sections are perfect for the way I need to plan the business, giving me space for lists and allowing me to group together the tasks I’m working on without needing to attach everything to a particular day.

My Vertical layout will continue to be used for wellness because that is still working well for me.

And that was really the point of my October planner reset. I didn’t need to change everything. I just needed to look at what was still working and what could work better now.

Letting your discbound planner change with you

This is one of the things I love about using a discbound planner. I’m not locked into the way I originally set it up.

Pages can be moved, removed or added, and even a layout I originally chose for one part of my life can be used differently when my life changes

You might have pages you loved six months ago but rarely look at now. A layout you bought for one purpose might turn out to be useful for something completely different. Or there may be something you could add that would make your planner work better for the way you use your planner now.

You don’t need to wait for a new year or start a completely new planner. Sometimes it’s simply worth sitting down, looking through what you already have and asking whether it still suits you.

That’s what I wanted this month’s Wednesday Wellness to help you do.

This month’s Wednesday Wellness

Reset Your Planner gives you space to look through your planner as it is now and consider:

  • What is working well in my planner?
  • What isn’t working for me anymore?
  • Could I use something differently?
  • What would I like to change?

There is also a full Space to Plan page for any notes, ideas or changes you want to work through. printable

You don’t have to change your entire discbound planner for a reset to make a difference. It could simply be moving a page, trying a different weekly layout or finding a new use for something you already have.

As life changes, what works for us can change too.

I’ve done something a little different with this month’s printable too. Instead of my usual pink, blue or green, I have decided that our colour for October will be yellow 💛💛.

Throughout October, Reset Your Planner will be included with dream.design.bloom orders as this month’s complimentary Wednesday Wellness planner insert.
