Why I Don't Buy A Separate Travel Journal Anymore

Why I Don't Buy A Separate Travel Journal Anymore

Every holiday used to begin with the same question.

Should I buy another travel journal?

I loved the idea of having one place for packing lists, travel information, daily plans and memories, but I never liked what happened afterwards. Once the holiday was over, the journal was placed on a shelf, while my everyday planner continued somewhere else.

Everything was separated.

When I started using a discbound planner, that completely changed.

Instead of buying another notebook, I now create a dedicated travel section using dream.design.bloom Notes Inserts. It means every holiday becomes part of the same planner I use throughout the year.

For our upcoming trip to Bali, I started with a single blank Notes Insert.

From that one page, I created an entire travel section.

A personalised cover page became the beginning of the journey.

I added packing lists so everything I needed was organised before we left. I created a travel information page with the important details I wanted to have close by, and I designed daily pages ready to capture our plans while we were away.

Every page was created for the way I like to travel.

That's what I love most about discbound planning.

You're not working within somebody else's layout.

You're creating one that works for you.

Some trips need detailed itineraries.

Others are much more relaxed.

Sometimes I want extra room for ideas, recommendations or little moments I don't want to forget.

With a discbound planner, adding another page is effortless. If I need more space, I simply add another Notes Insert. If I want to move pages into a different order, I can. My planner changes as my plans change.

That flexibility is something I never found in a traditional notebook.

The best part happens when the holiday is over.

I don't place my travel journal in a drawer.

I don't lose it on a bookshelf.

It stays exactly where it belongs, inside my planner.

Months later, I can turn back through those pages and remember where we stayed, what we packed, the places we visited and the little moments that made the trip special.

Instead of becoming another forgotten notebook, it becomes part of the story of that year.

That's one of the biggest reasons I love creating with dream.design.bloom Notes Inserts.

They're not limited to one purpose.

Today they've become a travel journal.

Next month they might become a Christmas planner.

Later in the year they could become a project planner, a reading journal, a garden planner or somewhere to organise ideas for a new business.

Every blank page has the potential to become something completely different.

That's the beauty of discbound planning.

It isn't about fitting your life into someone else's planner.

It's about creating a planner that fits your life.

For me, that meant turning a blank Notes Insert into a travel journal for Bali.

For you, it could become something entirely different.

And I think that's the most exciting part of starting with a blank page.
